Obamacare

This picture, to me, racializes Barack Obama as a leader, by painting him as “primitive” and tying this notion with his policies. This picture shows how Black public figures in the United States still must face the challenge of representing their entire race with every action.

  1. I do think this is racist. But I think this picture is representative of a bigger problem. A lack of respect. We can no longer agree to disagree with people. We have to put them down in the process. I personally disagree with certain parts of Obamacare, but respect him as a person. Why is this so hard to do?

  2. This picture is kind of confusing to me. What is it trying to say? The thing that I can tell, however, is that it is unlikely this picture would happen to any other president, because they are not Black. This is clearly a reflection on his race.

  3. I agree, this is representation is problematic! As we talked about in class it is very hard for Obama to do really anything without people making connections to his race.
