I shared the same experiences as you when I was studying abroad in Italy. People looked at America as if it were all one big joke. I was constantly asked what I thought about Donald Trump, and like you, believed he would say, "Surprise! I was kidding all along!" Im still grappling with the fact that this isn't a dream, but I like the way you ended this post by holding the Trump supporters accountable.

I think that the results of the election were so shocking because the vast majority of the people we see supported Hillary. It is very difficult to understand why people would vote for Trump. Sadly, it is a privilege of many Trump supporters that they can ignore many types of oppression. But, I like to hope that our generation and future generations will do better.

I think the whole topic of the election has been an on going theme throughout this semester and it has been difficult for many to understand the outcome. I agree with your ideas about how you are personally feeling. It is hard when people do not understand things from the other side. People tend to be narrow minded and only view situations from their own point of view. This does not make it easier especially with the outcome of the election when others cannot understand what others go through. People rather ignore the facts and put it on the back burner because they think that everyone else is going to deal with it or fix the issue. However, that is not the answer rather it takes a village and that will be the same with the election.
